Learning to slow down, in the kitchen, with my Slow Cooker!

I have to agree with my Husband that it’s hard for me to sit still for a few minutes and just be quiet.  I’m the sort of person who needs to be doing something…anything.

I guess that’s why embracing the concept of slow cooking has been hard on me.

Well, it took me a good two years to finally accept that I needed to slow down, in the kitchen, and enjoy the extra time on my hands. So with those awesome Black Friday deals going on, I picked up a  Slow Cooker!

I placed it on my counter-top and left it there on display for a good two months before accepting I really had to give it a shot.

Sure it meant planning ahead if I wanted my family to eat something out of the Cooker 4-8 hours later but the health benefits (and time benefits) were a big plus.

My first meal out of the cooker was, uhm, not exactly what I’d hoped it would be. But it’s because a certain somebody didn’t follow the instructions properly (Yes, me!)

Hubs decided to give it a shot and put together an amazingly sumptuous chicken curry with veggies that instantly converted me into becoming a believer.

I was ready to give it a shot again and…

SUCCESS!!

So yes, I’m now slowly but surely embracing life on the slow track…atleast once a week, till I get the hang of things. (All you Slow Cooker Pros, stop snickering!!)

My next must try is this seemingly easy Slow Cooker Whole Chicken and Veggies recipe I found on the Hamilton Beach site. (I know, isn’t that cool?  You buy an appliance and they support you with a bunch of recipes to get you comfortable!)

Because everyone knows I love veggies in anything, for the kiddos!

So tell me…

Do you have a favorite Slow Cooker Recipe that’s a must-try?

(Leave a link in your comment and I’ll hop over to pin it and hopefully try it over the coming days.)

I love our slow cooker. It’s such a great way to get dinner ready in the morning and then not have to do anything with it the rest of the day. And it makes the house smell so good!

One of my favorite recipes is for a ham. All you do is rub it in brown sugar and put it in the slow cooker. It cooks in it’s own juices and is so good!

I don’t have one! :( Is it a must though? I have never felt the need to cook even slowlier than I do now (I am not the sharpest tool in the kitchen to be honest!)

I’ve learned that you can put pretty much any meal in a slow cooker and it comes out amazing. Pot Roast is my absolute most favorite thing to cook in my slow cooker!
