Every night, before we go to bed, our family does the “Good Night” rounds.
Good night Mama, Good night Dada…
This is immediately followed by our “I Love You: rounds.
I love you Mama, I love you Dada…
We’ve made this our little family tradition…
to ensure, even if we haven’t said “I Love You” during the day, it’s said before we go to bed.
We’ve made this important to us.
I’m sure you’ve seen this quote floating around…
.
Something to think about, right?
Well, to encourage people to dig into their hearts and share the “sugar” around, CaringBridge has come up with a creative way to kick-start those engines…
the Share Your Heart contest.
.
Share My Heart…and possibly win?
You got it!
All you need to do is…
1. Share the fun, unique, interesting, moving, heart melting ways you show love, support and gratitude to the special people in your life. This may be through a photograph, video or message, on the Share Your Heart site.
2. And get your friends, family and practically anyone you know to vote for your entry, once every 24 hours!
(Important Dates to keep in mind:
Entry Submission Period ends March 1, 2013
Entry Voting Period ends March 6, 2013)
The winner will be the person with the most number of votes on his/her entry.
And here’s what the winner will receive…
((Woot!!))
One for you and one for the person who was the inspiration behind your entry!!
And for everyone else who enters, their names will go into the proverbial hat and 10 winners will be picked to receive a 20$ gift certificate from Pear Tree Greetings.
.
.
Why enter this contest?
To put it simply…because the contest organizer, CaringBridge, is an organization that is all heart.
I know two families who use CaringBridge sites as their way to communicate with loved ones as their children go through grueling rounds of chemo and treatment.
What’s awesome is the services CaringBridge provides to anyone who wants to set up a dedicated site to use as a communication means, is 100% free.
Each site is advertisement free and privatized in such a way that the individual site creators get to choose who gets to read their updates and how their information gets shared.
It’s a great way to stay connected with the ones you love and receive the support you need when going through that health storm in life.
Each comment left in the guest books or even the little monetary gifts of love go a long way in one’s health journey.
CaringBridge respects the privacy of each of their users as if each one is known on a personal basis.
If you look at the bigger picture, it’s like one huge big family networked as communities supporting each other along life’s ups and downs.
And there’s more…
I love that the services don’t just stop there.
It all goes a step further with the Support Planner!
It’s an easier way to connect with people (and mobilize others) to pitch in to help provide meals to a family who has just lost a loved one or even help run chores for that harried dad of 2 young ones while Momma’s in the hospital having baby 3.
The next time the ladies in your church group decide to pool in help, consider getting everyone to spread the buzz and chip in via the Support Planner.
Just be typing all this out, I’m once again encouraged to show my support to this awesome organization in whatever little way I can.
If you’ve been wondering how to use your Social Media Influence for good, well, this is a great way to start…
Oh and while you are here…
would you tell me how you show your children you love them.
(And yes, hop over and enter yourself in the contest right after you do. You never know, you just may win!)

What a sweet idea! I make sure my kiddos feel loved every day, but some special things we say are “I love you with all my hearts,” “I love you to the moon and back,” and “I love you to the yucky butt” – Yeah, don’t ask, my 3 year old started that one! haha!
Oh goodness I laughed out loud at that one. I’d love to see my daughter’s reaction if I said that to her tonight! Ha!!
What a fun idea!! I will share this with my sister and sister-in-laws. We don’t have any kids.

sounds like a great contest, a way to not look out for oneself but to show others love. Thank you for sharing!
we used to have a very similar good night/i love you routine. so sweet & its a great memory for kids
This is really cute and really necessary. It is great to strengthen the family unit by surrounding yourself with love. My family always do this and never hesitate the say “I love you.”

My kids probably think I am crazy. I tell them at least once a day that I love them. I give them hugs. (Just what an 11 and 18 year old want, right?)

My kids are older so I show them I love them by having special day outs with each of them doing things they would like.

What a wonderful tradition! When our kids were small we always did the “I love you this much” with arms as wide as they could go, every night before bed. We still show them how much we love them now that they’re older by spending time together and listening to their thoughts and dreams.

I wake my kids up every morning by saying “Good morning! I love you!” We spend our days together, playing, crafting, reading, etc.

I try to show my kids I love them by doing little random acts of kindness each day – making their beds (when it’s their chore) making a special meal they love, leaving them notes of love in their lunch boxes and just showing them I care and love them!
I show my children I love them by giving them the gift of my time. Every night before bed we snuggle to end the day and it’s just perfect.
I don’t have kids (yet?) but my Grandmother would always take me on “thing-finding” trips around the neighborhood. We would just look for small things of all sorts that could be found and I really enjoyed that.
