When I saw this quote on Pinterest, my thoughts went back to a school friend who was born with a cleft lip. She had the spunkiest personality and was the spark that lit up a room…
but that never held back that odd person or two from commenting on how weird she looked with a split lip.
Yes she was beautiful to us but to people who didn’t know her, she was that girl with a birth deformity.
I still remember her vowing to get the cleft corrected as an adult…
and you know what? She did!
Thankfully today having corrective surgery done on a child born with a cleft lip, ear re-shaping, tight neck muscles etc. is not unheard of. It’s definitely an investment worth spent especially if it helps your child get through the growing years without hurtful word assaults.
