As a child, Christmas, to me, was all about the gifts.
Gifts and more gifts.
The reason for the season to me, was gifts!
Now, as a Mom, I pray it’s more than just another toy wrapped up under the tree. I pray the beauty of the Season is experienced in it’s wholesomeness by my children.
The foundation of encouraging a love for giving has already been laid. And we, as parents, have been working on building on this, not just at Christmas but through the year.

3 ways we’ve been encouraging our children to give…
- We have been reminding them that everyone needs to be appreciated for what they do…our garbage disposal collector, our mailman, courier personnel, teachers. And that a small token of appreciation along with a thank you card goes a long way.
- This year we even got to put together a fun toy drive for our local Home for Abused Kids. It was such a joy to see our kids faces when they walked into the Center with the boxes filled with toys. The personnel at the Center crouched down to their level and explained how each toy would bring so much joy into the lives of the children. Their love was put into action!
- The children have also been setting aside outgrown shoes and clothes, books that have been out-read and toys that have been out-played, for donation to local charity centers.
Giving the Gift of a Great Future.
Not all children are fortunate to come from stable homes, loving family circles and/or homes that can provide. That’s where the Boys & Girls Club of America steps in to provide an environment that encourages children to thrive despite their situations back home.
And this Christmas, they’re encouraging people to help support all that they do to shape the lives of many children around the US. And at the same time plant the seed of giving into the hearts of your child(ren).
1 easy way to support the Boys & Girls Club of America…
Simply play the free, 30 second, Giving Game to donate a gift to a Club.
The first time I played the game my donation was a dollar to the Club Membership Fund.
The second time around, my donation win was an art kit for a Boys & Girls Club member.
Isn’t that awesome? And what’s great is you don’t have to register to play this game.
Such a quick and easy way to gift a gift that really goes a long way when you look at the overall picture!
Before you hop away to play…
Would you take a moment to vote for the Club you think is the most worthy to receive a 2500$ grant from the Boys & Girls Club of America?
Tell me…how do you encourage the spirit of giving in your child?
**EBMR Disclaimer: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Boys and Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item as a thank-you for participating**

What a wonderful organization. I love how easy they make it to donate money to BGCA.
