What 35$ can do…

On the other side of the continent a little girl turns 7 years old.

This year, unlike the rest, she will enjoy 3 meals on her birthday…she will be clothed with clean clothes…she will celebrate her special day at school.

Last year her situation was different.

Think about this for a minute…what if your child had a birthday and the only thing that mattered was where you’d get clean water to moisten her chapped lips? Or when you’d find edible food in the trash can to feed your hungry son?

Thankfully, the LORD has blessed us with what we need. We may not have everything we want. But we have what we need.

There are children around the world who are not as fortunate but giving up certain extravagances can change that for them. You can be the one to make that change.

Last year our family felt a burden to sponsor a child with World Vision. About a month later we felt the LORD placed upon our hearts to add another child to our sponsorship family.

And 6 months later we can testify that this has been one of the best things we’ve done.

Both our kids know the girls’ names and pray for them daily, during family prayer. Just this morning Bunny girl, sent an email to both the girls. And now says the one thing on her bucket list that she has to do is visit with both the girls.

No, we do not have the extra money to give away. We too have financial responsibilities but the LORD has always provided for what we need. We have given up certain un-required  extravagances to make our monthly contributions for the girls’ needs. And honestly, knowing that two little girls are being fed, clothed, educated and taken care of, makes giving up those lavish splurges so insignificant.

Today as we celebrate the life of our sponsored child, I encourage you to consider setting aside 35$ every month. It  may not seem like you can get very much with 35$ but for a child you sponsor it is life!

35$ can feed, clothe, educate and care for a child …and to make that happen all you need to do is say YES.

Can you think of something you can give up each month that really won’t affect your health, well-being or lifestyle?

World Vision does great things. I’m sure there are many things I could give up… like the Starbucks I treat myself to while grocery shopping.

I love World Vision. We sponsor two children through them and it has been such a blessing for our family. Our kids remind us to pray for “Billy” and “Blondine” every day and we often talk about them.
