Summer Reading with H.E.Buddy {+ Sweeps}

If you really went through my home carefully, you’d be amazed to find H.E.Buddy what nots hoarded treasured from over the past 4 years.

.

My 6 year old has faithfully saved buddy bucks for H.E.Buddy themed loot. Has enrolled in the summer reading program faithfully each year. Insists on waiting patiently in line to take her nth photograph with H.E.Buddy, whenever we see him out and about.

I guess you can say she is one of his biggest fans.

So this past week when we went on our grocery shopping rounds, she whooped excitedly to see the Summer Reading forms lying in a pile at the H.E.B. Store.

Yes. It’s that time of the year again, y’all.

Summer Reading with H.E. Buddy!

All you need to do is-

  1. Get your child to read 10 books ( or read 10 books to him/her)
  2. List those books on the flyer (you can pick this up at any H.E.B. store or print this out from the link above)
  3. Send off the flyer and wait…patiently.

In less than a month, your child will receive an H.E. Buddy t-shirt, a reading certificate, a buddy buck and a few other treats.

My little ones were sent a Reading Bundle to get them started on their list (not that they needed any help with that!)

.

I must say H.E.Buddy does pick out some neat reads.

.

The kids and I cuddled and crooned as we read I Love You Mommy.

Ooh-ed and Aah-ed as we learned some amazing facts about the metamorphosis of frogs (Did you know frogs hibernate? ) in Tadpole to Frog.

And laughed ourselves silly as we ready the wacky “Undies”  scenarios in Underpants, Thunderpants!

.

Thanks to a bunch of books they picked out from our local library yesterday, their lists are ready to be mailed!

.

Are you all set to get your child signed up?

It’s free…

And tons of fun!

Reading with incentives…what more could a child ask for?

“A Quiet Night In” is my favorite children’s book. It’s hilarious and touching, and I think written for parents just as much as the kids (though my kids have loved this one…my first nearly had it memorized).
