Most recently, the Ziploc Brand has partnered with best-selling author and TV personality Rachael Ray to encourage families to “freshover” their outlook on eating. The 2 year initiative offers families recipes, tips and ways to use Ziploc Brand Containers and Bags to keep the fresh perspective on all their food.

“The Ziploc Fresh Eating Survey results shed light on the fact that Americans want to eat fresh food and are hungry for the resources to do so,” says Ray. “Ziploc Brand and I are doing just that with The Great American FreshOver™ Project, which challenges families and provides them with the tools to ‘freshover’ their meals and inspire lasting change.”

The Ziploc Fresh Eating Survey uncovered an interesting look into the most fresh and least fresh cities across America. The top 10 “freshest cities” are where residents are seeking and eating the freshest food options available, through farmer’s markets and gardening habits.

I’m in love with the big freezer bags as I generally try to whip up several dishes over the week, split them into 2 portions each -1 to use immediately and the other to freeze. That way we all enjoy variety and we’re eating fresh, healthy food and not something out of a cardboard box or take away bag.

As parents we limit fast food, convenience food whip ups to a bare minimum because it’s easy for a child to get hooked onto the “unhealthys”.

It is ofcourse much more work cooking from scratch and putting together a wholesome fresh meal day in and day out but the benefits are huge on my family’s health and that makes it all worth the effort!

We also received the single portion little containers that are great for my spice stashes. I love marinating meat/poultry with a good spice rub or grinding a variety of spices for a specific dish. With the containers, I’ve proportioned it all out so that I just need to grab a single container and use all the contents for the dish in question.

The Perfect Portions single serve bags are yet to be used only because I try to freeze everything in a quantum perfect for a minimum of 4 people. I may need to pull these out later over the weekend though when I need to freeze and portion out the meat for our kebab skewers!
