I don’t need to harp on and on about how expensive dental insurance is. After shelling out over 200$ a month for our family 3 years ago, we decided to opt out of the company’s dental insurance plan. It was crazy throwing money like that to the wind especially since we didn’t need to do anything major at the dentist that year PLUS it wasn’t like it meant dental treatment was free. We were still paying for treatment, appointments as co-pays, out of our pocket.
Been in the same boat?
Well last year, I was introduced to my family alternative to dental insurance…an affordable dental plans provider- DentalPlans.com
.
.
The Buzz:
• Discount dental plans are an affordable alternative to individual and family dental insurance plans. (NOTE:This is an alternative which means this does not claim to be insurance but works more like a discount plan)
• With discount dental plans, DentalPlans.com provide:
o 10% to 60% off most dental care procedures
o Savings at 100,000+ dentists across the country
o 30+ plans to search, compare and view sample savings by zip code
o Select plans offer savings on cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics
o No annual limits, health restrictions or paperwork hassles
o Most plans activate within three business days
o Plans start at $79.95 per year for individuals and $129.95 per year for families
In addition to searching for plans by zip code, one can use the Savings Genie tool to search by top 5 dental procedures and find the best plan in their area.
E.B. Mommy Reports:
.
Right after Christmas I happened to chomp down on a Christmas sweet (that apparently went wrong as the sweet was rock solid!) and chipped off a sizeable portion of an earlier filled tooth. The result was a gaping hole. Not wanting to face the brunt of a bigger tooth problem if I waited, we decided to visit our local dentist armed with our family’s dental plan in hand.
.
The dentist we visited was listed under the Insurance Plan we picked with DentalPlans.com and we were pleasantly surprised at the savings we walked home with considering we DID NOT have dental insurance but this discount dental plan.
My first visit included a comprehensive oral evaluation (Standard Price:: 69 US$) and a full mouth set of X-Rays (Standard Price: 103 US$). With the Plan we only paid 85 US$ in total!!
Over the next few months I will be returning to the dentist to work on other necessary tooth needs and I’m so relieved that it won’t cost us a bomb. I’m not saying that the dental treatments will be cheap BUT they have definitely become more affordable with our plan.
.
.
I have to add here that the DentalPlans.com customer service is without a doubt one of the best I’ve ever dealt with. They were patient to discuss the pros and cons of each Plan considering our family’s needs and went an extra mile to send me a list of Providers in our area with the names of the personnel in each office who confirmed the Plan was accepted in their practice.
When Hubby was asked to enroll for dental insurance at work this year, we unanimously agreed that we couldn’t get a better arrangement than the discount dental plan and decided to turn it down…and it’s a decision I don’t think we will regret!

I would love to win this so my hubby and I could take care of a few dental issues that need attention but aren’t urgent.
My husband and I started our own business and haven’t been able to afford dental care since. We recently found out we will be out of business March 1st, so something like this would be amazing to win. With our small business we didn’t make enough to purchase it on our own, so being out of a job and starting over again would make this even harder. Thank you for the chance to win this prize. I hope it makes a difference in someones life.
I need a partial!
We could really use this, we has just been getting done the most necessary work. I am going to look into this later this evening.
My husband needs a lot of dental work, and despite having a decent job hasn’t been provided dental insurance for about 5 years now.
I need to get to a dentist!
i want to win this because i am overdue for a dental cleaning/check-up :/
I’d love to win this to get coverage for a family member who currently can’t afford dental care!

I’d like to win because right now we don’t have insurance, and my sons dental work is really putting a strain on our finances! He has a small mouth so his teeth are getting more and more crunched by the day, so we’re in for a long haul of work!
